〜気味
N2a touch of, slightly, a bit (usually an undesirable condition)
Formation: N + 気味; V-ます stem + 気味; 気味だ / 気味の + N / 気味に
Says that a person or situation is showing a slight sign of some condition, usually an unwelcome one: 風邪気味 (a bit of a cold), 疲れ気味 (a bit tired), 太り気味 (putting on weight). 気味 is read ぎみ in this pattern. It is common in everyday speech, and in news and business writing for trends (遅れ気味, 下落気味). It describes a mild condition right now. Compare 〜がち, which says something happens often or tends to happen over time. 病気がち means often ill, while 風邪気味 means getting a bit of a cold today. 〜っぽい is more casual and can describe character or appearance as well.
Variants: 気味だ、気味の、気味に
