〜からといって
N2just because (X), it doesn't follow that (Y)
Formation: Plain form (V/い-adj/な-adj + だ/N + だ) + からといって; casual: からって
This pattern rejects a hasty conclusion: X being true does not automatically lead to Y. It can also criticise someone for using X as an excuse. The second half is almost always negative or disapproving. Typical endings are 〜わけではない, 〜とは限らない, 〜というものではない, or a judgment such as 〜のはよくない or 〜てはいけない. It is used in both speech and writing; からって is the casual spoken form, and からとて is a literary version. It is close to the opposite of 〜からこそ, which says that X is exactly the reason. It often appears together with 〜わけではない or 〜とは限らない, which carry the actual denial.
Variants: からって、からとて
