〜くせに
N2even though (critical, scornful or resentful)
Formation: V/i-adj plain form + くせに; na-adj + な + くせに; N + の + くせに
Links two facts about the same person, where the second doesn't fit the first, and adds the speaker's irritation, scorn or reproach. It is strongly subjective and mainly spoken. It is normally used about other people, not oneself, and both clauses usually share the same subject. It can also end a sentence as a retort (知ってるくせに!). Ordinary のに can express mild disappointment and can be used about oneself. 〜にもかかわらず and 〜ながら(も) state the contrast more neutrally and are more formal.
Variants: くせして、〜くせに。(sentence-final)
