〜向け

N2

intended for, aimed at (a target group or market)

Formation: N + 向け; N + 向けの + N; N + 向けに + V; N + 向けだ

Indicates the intended audience, user or market that something was designed or made for. It is neutral and very common in business, advertising and news, as in 子ども向け, 初心者向け and 海外向け. Don't confuse it with 向き, which says something happens to be suitable for someone, whether or not it was made for them: 子ども向きの映画 is a film that suits children, while 子ども向けの映画 is a film made for children. It also differs from 〜に向けて, which means working toward a goal or date, or facing a direction.

Variants: 向けの、向けに、向けだ
