〜にかかわらず

N2

regardless of, whether or not

Formation: N (a word with range or variation: 天候, 年齢, 有無, 大小…) + にかかわらず; V-dictionary + V-ない + にかかわらず; A-い + A-くない + にかかわらず; N + N (opposites) + にかかわらず

〜にかかわらず says that the point which follows holds no matter which value X takes. X must contain variation, so it is either a noun like 年齢, 天候, 性別 or 経験の有無, or an opposing pair like 行く行かない or 好むと好まざるとにかかわらず. It is formal and common in notices, rules and announcements. 〜を問わず has almost the same meaning and is even more typical of job ads and official wording. 〜いかんにかかわらず is a stiffer version. Learners often confuse it with 〜にもかかわらず, which means 'despite' and refers to one specific fact: 雨にもかかわらず is correct, but 雨にかかわらず is not.

Variants: にかかわりなく、に関わらず
