〜に関わる
N1affecting, having a serious bearing on (life, honour, reputation)
Formation: N + に関わる; noun-modifying: N + に関わる + N; also written にかかわる
〜に関わる says that something seriously affects or threatens a vital matter. It typically follows nouns like 命, 生死, 名誉, 信用, 将来, 存亡 and 沽券, meaning 'it puts X at stake'. It appears in news, official warnings and everyday speech alike (命に関わる病気). Compare 〜に関して/に関する, which is a neutral 'about, regarding' with no sense that anything is at stake. As an ordinary verb, 関わる also means 'be involved in' (事件に関わる). Do not confuse it with 〜にかかわらず, which means 'regardless of'.
Variants: にかかわる、に関わる + N、に関わる問題
