〜に向けて

N2

toward (a goal or event); aimed at (an audience); heading for

Formation: N + に向けて; N + に向け (written); N + に向けた / に向けての + N

〜に向けて says what an effort or action is aimed at. The noun can be a goal or upcoming event that people are preparing for (an election, a recovery, the Olympics), the audience a message is addressed to, or simply a destination someone is heading for. It is neutral to formal and very common in news reports and official statements. に向け is the shorter written form, and に向けた is used to modify nouns, as in 解決に向けた話し合い. Do not confuse it with 〜向け, a noun suffix for the group a product is designed for (子供向けの本). Unlike 〜に対して, which describes an attitude or reaction toward someone, 〜に向けて describes action directed toward a goal or target.

Variants: に向け、に向けた、に向けての
