〜にしたら/にすれば

N2

from (X's) point of view, as far as X is concerned

Formation: N (person or group) + にしたら / にすれば / にしてみれば

〜にしたら/にすれば means 'from X's standpoint'. The speaker puts themselves in someone else's position and imagines how that person thinks or feels, so the sentence often ends in だろう, かもしれない, のも無理はない and similar. It is used about other people or groups, not to state one's own position. For that, use 〜としては (私としては). にしてみれば is a common, slightly more emphatic variant. Compared with 〜からすると/からすれば, which can also mean 'judging from (evidence)', にしたら is only about a person's viewpoint and feelings. Unlike 〜にとって, which gives an evaluation (大切だ, 難しい), it focuses on that person's subjective reaction. It is used in both speech and writing.

Variants: にすれば、にしてみれば、にしてみたら
