〜てからというもの

N1

ever since (X), (things have changed)

Formation: V-て form + からというもの

Says that since a particular turning-point event in the past, a new state or behaviour has continued. It carries the speaker's strong sense of how big the change was. The main clause describes an ongoing situation, often with 〜ている, 〜ようになった or 毎日, not a single event or the speaker's intention. It is a little literary and is common in narrative, essays and personal accounts. Plain 〜てから only gives a sequence, and 以来 is a neutral 'since'. 〜をきっかけに and 〜を機に point to the trigger itself, while てからというもの stresses the lasting change that followed.

Variants: 〜てからというものは
