〜というところだ/といったところだ
N1about, roughly; at most (X); more or less at the stage of X
Formation: N (often a number or amount) + というところだ/といったところだ; V-dictionary + というところだ
Gives an approximate assessment of an amount or stage, often suggesting that it is small or not much, as in せいぜい三日というところだ ("three days at most"). It can also sum up where something stands, e.g. あと一歩といったところだ ("just one more step to go"). It is used in conversation and in light writing such as columns. The ending 〜といったところか is a softer, more tentative version. Compare 〜にすぎない ("no more than"), which dismisses something firmly. 〜というところだ is milder and only an estimate.
Variants: 〜といったところです、〜というところか、〜といったところか
Examples
