〜を顧みず
N1without regard for (danger, oneself, family, others)
Formation: N + を顧みず; N + も顧みず (emphatic)
Means doing something without thinking about something one ought to consider, typically danger, one's own safety or health, one's family, or the trouble caused to others. Depending on context it praises courage (身の危険を顧みず人を助ける) or criticises selfishness and neglect (家庭を顧みず働く). It is formal and mostly written, found in news reports, biographies and essays. Compare 〜もかまわず, which is more everyday and usually about ignoring other people's eyes or opinions (人目もかまわず泣く), and 〜をものともせず, which describes bravely overcoming an obstacle and is always admiring. 〜をよそに means carrying on regardless of other people's worries or reactions.
Variants: 〜も顧みず、〜を顧みることなく、〜を顧みない
