〜を限りに
N1as of (X), (something ends); X is the last time
Formation: N (今日, 本日, 今回, 今月末, 今シーズン, etc.) + を限りに
Marks the final point of something that stops after it, such as retiring, closing a shop, quitting a habit or ending a service. It often sounds resolved or emotional, as in a firm personal declaration (今日を限りにたばこをやめる). You meet it in announcements, news reports and fairly formal speech. The noun is a point in time or an occasion, and the main clause has to describe something ending or stopping, not starting. Compare 〜をもって, which is more neutral and official and can mark a start as well as an end (4月1日をもって施行する). 〜を機に marks the occasion for a new change rather than an end. Do not confuse it with the unrelated set phrase 声を限りに, which means 'at the top of one's voice'.
