〜をものともせず(に)
N1undaunted by, defying (a difficulty or hardship)
Formation: N + をものともせず(に)
Means facing an obstacle such as bad weather, injury, illness, opposition or criticism without being daunted, and pushing on to do something admirable. It carries clear praise, so it is normally used about other people and sounds boastful if used about oneself. It is mainly written and common in news and sports reports. The main clause describes a positive effort or achievement. Compare 〜を顧みず, which means ignoring something one should consider, such as danger or family, and can be critical. 〜もかまわず means not caring, usually about other people's eyes, and 〜をよそに means ignoring other people's concerns.
Variants: 〜をものともせずに
