N2leaving out, setting aside; without X (Y is impossible)
This pattern has two main uses. First, を抜きにして means leaving X out or skipping it, as in 堅苦しい挨拶は抜きにして or 冗談は抜きにして, meaning joking aside. Second, を抜きにしては, followed by a negative or impossibility such as 語れない or 考えられない, says that Y is impossible without X, which stresses that X is essential. It is neutral and used in both speech and writing, and the short form 抜きで (わさび抜き, 朝食抜きで) is everyday and casual. 〜なくして(は) has a similar 'without X, Y is impossible' meaning but is more formal and literary. 〜は別として and 〜はともかく only put X aside for the moment, and do not claim that X is essential.
